These are the steps outlined by Jerry Letchworth, Cary-Kildaire Rotary Club, last week. These steps mirror the “Club in a Club” information provided by the West Raleigh Rotary Club. Develop a list of 30 potential members
  1. Set a date for a one hour open house.
  2. Ten days before the open house, have each potential member called by a Rotarian.
  3. Mail each potential member an invitation one week before the open house.
  4. Have a Rotarian assigned to each of the 30 potential members.
  5. At the open house, have finger food. Not a sit down meal.
  6. Have a short information packet for the potential members at the open house.
  7. Have 1-2 short, interesting speakers at the open house. Each one speaks no longer than 5 minutes about Rotary International, how the club operates, and about some of the projects of the club.
  8. Have 4 displays at the Open House, one for each avenue of service.
  9. Follow-up within a week with each potential member.
  10. Assign a mentor to each new member.
  11. Have a “stars” meeting twice a year or as needed. These meetings are held 45 minutes before the regular meeting and are designed as new member orientation sessions.
